Miki was born on December 18, 1987 in Nagoya, Japan.  She first started skating in 1995 and currently trains with Nikolai Morozov and Yuko Monna in Hackensack, New Jersey.  Nationally, Miki is a two-time National Champion winning in 2004 and 2005.  When she competed on the ISU Junior Grand Prix Circuit, she won every event she skated at, making it a total of six gold medals.  She qualified for three ISU Junior Grand Prix Finals and won two of them.  Miki is also the first and only female skater to perform a quadruple jump successfully in competition at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in 2002.  On the senior ranks, Miki has never placed below 4th place at her ISU Grand Prix events, winning a total of two gold medals, five silver medals, and winning the 2006 Skate America event.  Miki has skated at every ISU Grand Prix Final since 2005 and was also the 2004 ISU World Junior Champion.  She has skated at four World Championships and was the 2007 ISU World Champion.
