Rachael Flatt was born on July 21, 1992 in Del Mar, California. She started skating in 1996 and currently trains at the Broadmoor Skating Club in Colorado with Tom Zakrajsek. She also trains with Becky Calvin, Erik Schulz, Patti Gottwein, Janet Champion and Eddie Shipstad. Nationally, she was the 2005 US Novice Ladies Champion, the 2006 US Junior Ladies Silver Medalist and the 2008 and 2009 US Silver Medalist. She started skating on the Junior Grand Prix Circuit in 2007 where she won the Vienna Cup and came 2nd at Pokal der Blauen Schwerter. She skated on the ISU Grand Prix Circuit in 2008 where she came in 2nd at the Cup of Russia and 4th at Skate America. That same year, she also won the 2008 World Junior Championships. Rachael came in 5th overall at the 2009 World Championships.
